Naban Reserve
The Naban River Watershed National Nature Reserve (NRWNNR) is a nature reserve of about 270 km2 located in the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna, SW China.
It is designed according to UNESCO´s Man & Biosphere concept and consists of three zones, a fully protected core zone, a buffer zone, and an experimental zone. Climatically, it is characterized
by a typical tropical monsoon climate. Ecologically, it represents the northernmost outliers of tropical rainforest as well as remarkable influences of the continental Asian as well
as temperate flora, thus representing a highly diverse environment.
The pictures in this collection are the output of two Sino-German Research Cooperations, the first being “LILAC” –
Living Landscapes China (concluded) and the second the currently implemented „SURUMER” – Sustainable Rubber Cultivation in the Mekong Region.
